BREAK YOUR BONES is an original song and spoken word written, performed, directed and produced by Acken Taylor. It explores when a person discovers divinity within themselves and finds strength in their vulnerability and wildness. That after scouring the earth, the person they desperately needed and was searching for, was themself.
THEATRE
The Flood is a live excerpt of Acken Taylor’s writing from the CTC Dance Theatre’s production of Wonderland in Alice.
EVERYTHING AFTER is a multimedia dance theatre piece created and performed by Acken Taylor. The piece is an exploration of what happens after we loose someone in our lives. The piece had its debut performance at The Arts Spring Theatre in 2024 during the theatre’s 25th Anniversary.
Black Beauty is an innovative dance theatre adaptation of the beloved classic which had its world premier Debut at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in 2023. Story by Andrea Kramer and written by Acken Taylor.

Wonderland in Alice
Wonderland in Alice is a poetic book adaptation of the CTC Dance Theatre Company’s show, created by Acken Taylor. In this book you’re lead through Alice’s journey of self and the curious world of Wonderland. The text and narrative has been created to mirror the experience of the show and includes all the original material that was used to help build the captivating experience. This unique story will speak to anyone who is trying to find themselves in this world, who is searching for their authentic self and looking to live their truth.

At OAK + BONE productions we understand the importance of finding the right collaborators. Sometimes you find your self with a vision but you can only go so far alone. Finding a creative accomplice to bounce ideas and get things done, is what we do.

Everyone has a vision but not everyone is in the same financial situation. We get that, and we don’t want that to stop you from pursing your project. We want to work with everyone, no matter where you are in your career. We are here for you.
When we take on a commission we will always take your situation into account. Art comes first. If your creation speaks to us, no matter your budget, we will figure something out together. The world needs more incredible ideas like yours. We can negotiate something that works for all parties involved.
Previous commissions
This here is the artist and performer Kate Stanforth's piece that we worked together on. OAK + BONE'S role in this production was to help Stanforth tell her story through music and spoken word. We produced the track for the performance.
THE PROCESS:
First Stanforth and I had a video consultation to discuss her vision and what she was looking for in regards to collaborating. Stanforth wanted to create a piece about her relationship and experience with her chronic illness and dance. It's very important to us at OAK + BONE productions if we are going to write on behalf of any person and their experience that we do so respectfully and with authenticity. To help me understand and be able to write on behalf of Kate Stanforth I asked if she would share as much of her story that she felt comfortable with. From then I offered guidance as to what parts of her story and direction I felt would be most effective for her vision through this form of story telling and due to the conditions of time for the piece. Once I had her consent to continue I then wrote some ideas down and sent them to Stanforth to make sure it was in alignment and was capturing her vision and story authentically. I tried to use as much of her own words as much as possible when writing. With her approval I went on to complete the piece, always checking in, listening and bouncing off any ideas that Stanforth had that came to her whilst following my own intuition and staying close to the Artist's vision.
Working with Kate Stanforth was extremely enriching and inspiring. I love learning from people and their stories. If you have a story to tell OAK + BONE productions would be delighted to help you tell it in they way you know you want it told.
